In the competitive Republican primary to replace former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, every dollar counts — and Utah County businessman Tanner Ainge knows it.

Ainge, a first-time candidate with $96,400 in cash on hand, hosted a fundraiser Monday night to land some more donations. And he had a big name to boast.

For $25, attendees could try to dunk Ainge’s famous father, Boston Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge, into a tub of water.

The Orem event is not the first time Ainge has brought his family into the mix. Danny Ainge also attended a campaign fundraiser for his son in June — though at a much steeper cost to participants. Tickets for the country club affair in Heber went for $1,000 per individual or $2,700 per couple.

Danny Ainge is a Utah celebrity for his game-winning shot that sent BYU to the Elite Eight in the 1981 NCAA Tournament.
